The INTViewer has been known to hang on starting.  The symptoms are that the Splash Screen is displayed and disappears normally, but the INTViewer never comes up.

This has been known to happen

  • after a system crash
  • after an INTViewer upgrade

Currently INT is researching this problem. As a fix is pending Tsunami will update information here.

Workaround:

Linux

  1. Go to your home directory and list the contents
    > cd /home/<<username>> OR >cd ~
    > ls -la
  2. You should see a file named ".intviewer". Delete this "hidden" file which is the configuration directory
    > rm -rf .intviewer

You should now be able to start the INTViewer normally.  The configuration directory (.intviewer) that was deleted will be recreated and will store configuration parameters properly.

This applies to version of the INTViewer 4.0 and greater.
